It’s that time of the year that we both love and hate. Movember is upon us. The one time of year where looking like a creepy pedo is accepted in the community. An excuse to grow a dirty ‘stache.
I’m totally okay with this because of the cause. If you are currently growing a moustache for the sake of Movember, be sure you support the cause and start a donation page on http://www.movember.com and spread the awareness on Prostate and Testicular cancer. If we are going to put so much energy towards this we need to do our part to try and find a cute for this. We all know how I feel about the “awareness” factor, see my Breast Cancer Awareness post, so again, support the cause, open up those wallets. I personally donate to all my friends Movember pages where they post pics of their hideous facial hair.
If you are going to grow a beautiful mustache this month, for the love of god please keep that sh** groomed. Check out this article on ways to do that and keep that stache looking dapper.
Here is a pic of me and my Movember beaut of a mustache. God, I look absolutely fantastic.
Ya ya ya I’m a few days late on this one, I’ve been slightly MIA, but for those of you who have not yet seen… The Baywatch babe Pam Anderson got a pixie cut.
Guys, I don’t know how I feel about this. Sure, she looks quite chic, if you will, but I’m not feelin’ the execution of this cut.
I like my long haired Pam.
Unreal colour work!
Check this out! This is such talented work. I am totally inspired by this, perhaps I will go dip my head in Kool-aid ( kidding.. don’t get any ideas, it wouldn’t work). Either way, colour blocking within the hair is coming more and more popular, especially with unnatural hair colours such as pink, blue, etc. I’m currently sporting some lilac ombre and loving it.
Click that link, get inspired. Try something new and add some colour to your boring hair (no offence).
So, Tom Pecheux has been creating looks backstage at Derek Lam’s fashion shows for a decade. To celebrate this milestone, I present to you the limited edition Derek Lam Collection for Estee Lauder.
If you’re thinking… who is Tom Pecheux? Read this:
That’ll give you a little idea of what this guy can create. He KNOWS makeup.
Derek Lam? He’s an American fashion designer.
Now that we have that clear, here is a picture of the Estee Lauder collection:
Included in this set:
- Derek Lam Clutch
- The Kajal Crayon in Near Night
- The Mascara in Black Black
- The EyeShadow in Smoked Gold
- The LipColor in Smoked Blush
- The Gloss in Barely Gold
Toats cute. This collection will be hitting the shelves in January 2014. I want that crayon.. I want it now!
I change my hair colour. A lot. When Halloween rolls around every year, I like to coordinate my costume with whatever I have goin’ on with my hair colour at that time. This year I am blonde. Sailor Moon? Barbie? I don’t know.. I’m lazy and after what happened last year, I will most likely spend Halloween on my couch. Perhaps I will not put any makeup on at all and scare the children that ring the doorbell.
Let me tell you about my Halloween last year. I had fire engine red hair. Everyone was all like “omg Lindsay, be Ariel!” but I decided to go a different route.
We all watched Pokemon as children. Let’s just be honest with each other. I decided with my hair colour that I would make a GREAT Misty from Pokemon. This post is just to show off how amazing my costume was. Why am I desperate for people to tell me my costume was great? Perhaps because after being out for 5 minutes, I fell and broke my arm. The people at the hospital did not seem to care that my costume was fantastic (…rude). They were too busy looking at the girl dressed up like a ballerina, bleeding from her head. Understandable, but I am bitter.
This was my fantastic costume:
I know, my hair is awesome, right? In order to achieve this look I used Sebastian Craft Clay, which my boyfriend had conveniently forgotten at my house (thx babe). To keep the look in place I used Paul Mitchell’s Hold Me Tight. This hair stayed in for days… having only one working arm, I was unable to take it out.
If I knew a year later I would be writing this, I would have taken better quality photos. I wanted my eyes to pop.. anime style. I used white eyeliner on my inner lids, and some mile long strip lashes. With thick black liner under my bottom lash line, I was looking like I should be heading to Cosplay.
Anyway, my boyfriend dressed up as Ash Ketchum. Our costumes would have won the Best Costume Award, but my clumsiness was the real winner that night. I’m done boasting. More Halloween inspiration to follow.
People… it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. You’re all thinking “duh, you’re a little late”. Give me a break, my blog is new. Better late than never. I still have a week to talk about it.
Let me start off by saying I hate the word “awareness”. I am aware.. that people have breast cancer. I’m aware that way too many beautiful women out there are dying because of it. Let’s ACT, rather than be aware. Let’s make a difference instead, and save the boobs.
Breast Cancer Awareness means wearing a lot of pink. This makes me happy. I would wear head to toe pink if it was socially acceptable and I perhaps wouldn’t get fired from my job for looking like pepto bismol all day every day. Either way, I can still show my support by wearing OPI’s Pink Of Hearts kit. This will be OPI’s seventh year participating in this campaign. This year they will be donating $25000 to Susan G Komen (http://ww5.komen.org/). They will also be donating $5000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada (http://rethinkbreastcancer.com/). So the kit this year consists of a pink shade, AND a sparkley shade! What more could a girl ask for. The kit also comes with cutesy nail art… little ribbons and crystals. You’ll have fab nails while supporting an amazing cause.
Everyone, go buy this kit. Go now. I would post a picture of me wearing it… but I broke two nails today and I’m devastated. I don’t want to talk about it. I was doing so well. Instead, here is a picture I found on Google. Same thing, right?
Some more info on this. The pink shade is called Pink-ing of You .. how cute. You’ll need a few coats of this bad boy to get the true shade. The other shade is called More Than a Glimmer. In my opinion, less is more with this one. Don’t over-do it with the glitter, Ke$ha. Keep it simple. This polish is quite smooth, so you may not need a top coat… and your nails will not feel like sand paper (yay!). You’ll also notice that More Than a Glimmer has more of a matte finish.
Anyway, purchase this kit.. do your part, and look pretty while doing it. It may not seem like much, but every little bit makes a difference. Do it for my Grandmother, who is a breast cancer survivor, and one of the strongest women I know.
Buy the duo here!!
So, this is my first blog post… ever. I mean, I have thought of starting a blog before, but I will admit to being extremely lazy. Being involved in the beauty industry has given me a ton of insight on more than I realized, and I am ready to share my vast wisdom with you and help you look pretty.
I’ll tell you a bit about myself. I’m 25, I naturally have hair that is almost black, which likes to grow into an awkward mullet and nothing else. I am freakishly pale.. and I mean freakishly. I practically reflect the sun. My skin will blind you. Oh, I’m also covered in freckles. Sounds lovely, right? That is me in a nutshell, you can verify with my mom.
This is me.
You’re looking at the picture and thinking “who the hell is she?”. That’s me. Fake right? Maybe, but only because I am obsessed with the beauty industry. No one needs to know about the girl I described. Superficial sounding? I know. I am, and I’m not afraid to admit it. Now, if you fit the description I mentioned above, don’t get your panties in a twist. I bet you are beautiful. It’s just not me. Hair dye, extensions, self tanners, makeup.. I love it all, and I know what works.
Anyway, I have worked in the beauty industry for ten years. I am a cosmetologist, and have taken many courses on hair. This is my passion, and I want to talk about it.
